In 1966, Formula 1 rules were changed and the switch from cars with 1.5-liter engines to cars with 3-liter engines was made mandatory. After Honda engineers finally achieved success with the 1.5-liter RA272 the year before, they unfortunately had to start from scratch and the RA273 was only ready for the Italian Grand Prix in 1966. It had a light monocoque frame with aluminum trim and was powered by a 90 degree V12 engine. He was piloted by Richie Ginther and John Surtees, with Ginther finishing the season in a respectable 4th place in the overall standings. To commemorate the first victory of Honda's third adventure in Formula 1 (Hungary GP), the model 1/12 Big Scale Series ITEM 12011 with limited edition photo etching parts is re-released!
